A చలివేంద్రం is a simple thing: a pot of cool water at the side of a road, under a roof, free to anyone who stops. Telangana has kept them through its summers for as long as anyone remembers.
Ours at Karmanghat is a thatched frame, a stand, and pots. The work is not the building. The work is the refilling — every day, through the months when the city is at its hottest and the people who most need the stop are the ones on two wheels and on foot.
Summer Water Camp is the name of the programme. Chalivendram is the name of the thing itself.
