What a school actually asks for
Charts, a globe, a spring balance, a box of chalk. The list a headmaster wrote was more specific than anything we would have guessed.

When a school writes to say thank you, it usually writes in generalities. The letter from MPPS Chennareddipally did not.
It listed what had arrived. Fifteen charts. Three models. Five maps. One globe. Eight banners. One prism. Four green boards. Two alphabet sets, two number sets, one compass, one spring balance, and a box of chalk.
That list is the most useful thing we have been given by a school, because it is the difference between what we imagine a classroom needs and what a headmaster, standing in it, actually asks for. A prism. A spring balance. Things you cannot teach the lesson without.
The letter ended with a phrase we have kept: the school thanked the whole institution for its “great ambition of strengthening the Govt. Schools.” That is the school’s wording, not ours. We would not have put it so plainly.
